Every Artifact From the MCU’s Phase 4 (& How Powerful They Are)
In addition to introducing several brand-new characters and settings to the movie series, Phase 4 of the MCU also introduces a number of strong artefacts that have a long history but are still relatively unknown today. The few ancient artefacts visible in Phase 4 are superior to the many amazing weapons seen throughout the MCU, including the infinite gauntlet, Stormbreaker, Captain America’s shield, and Iron Man’s technology. It’s feasible that more of these intriguing artefacts may be added to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Phases 5 and 6 come into play over the course of the next four years.
The Phase 4 antiquities continue a pattern that the Multiverse Saga is establishing. A new Marvel project will occasionally reveal a tremendously potent weapon alongside a new hero while only passingly mentioning its past and abilities. Only two of the four potent relics released so far in Phase 4 are consistently utilized in the projects they appear in. The other two are introduced in end-credit scenes, and while it spends a good amount of time on screen in its endeavour, there are still many unsolved mysteries regarding its history and abilities. Here are the four age-old artefacts from the MCU’s Phase 4 and how potent each one is.
The Ten Rings
The Ten Rings, the first prehistoric artefact featured in Phase 4, can be found in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The movie recounts that Wenwu (Tony Leung), Shang-father, Chi’s had control of the Ten Rings for roughly a thousand years and utilised them to consolidate his dominance. After being drawn back into his father’s life, Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) discovers more about the nature of his father’s power and his plans to destroy Ta Lo. He then sets out to get the Ten Rings and stop his father.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the origin of the Ten Rings is somewhat obscure because Shang-Chi doesn’t provide much information about its creation or origin. When Wenwu gives Shang-Chi control of the Ten Rings to destroy the Dweller-in-Darkness, it is clear that they provide their user extraordinary strength and supernatural abilities. The Ten Rings are briefly discussed in greater detail during the film’s end credits scene, which also explains that the ancient artefact isn’t composed of vibranium and cannot be found in the codex of the Masters of the Mystic Arts. Despite the paucity of knowledge on this antiquated artefact, it is obvious that there is more to it than meets the eye in terms of its abilities and its significance for the MCU’s future.
The Ebony Blade
The Ebony Blade is depicted in the Eternals end credits as a historical figure in the family of Dane Whitman (Kit Harrington). The Ebony Blade is within an ancient case that has the inscription “Death is my prize” etched on it in a different language. His attempt to take it up is thwarted by an off-screen voice that is positively identified as Blade, who is played by Marhershala Ali. Since this end-credit scene, the artefact has not been seen on screen once more, but it is highly possible that Whitman’s character will need the sword for some reason.
The magical sword of the Black Knight in Marvel Comics, Dane Whitman’s sword, was created by Merlin and Sir Percy. It has the ability to cut through any material, deflect and absorb magic, and keep the user from dying. When the Ebony Blade’s powers are fully released, the wielder can additionally surround himself with a set of black armour. The Ebony Blade, however, is a dreadful curse that corrupts everyone who uses it and heightens their desire for murder and killing. The relic and the person who holds it grow stronger thanks to this curse, but that strength comes at a terrible cost.
This antiquated artefact holds the key to Dane Whitman’s destiny in the MCU, and the sorcery and magic it possesses, as depicted in the comics, fits in perfectly with the Multiverse Saga’s expanding mystical motif. While the Ebony Blade’s provenance is still unknown, future appearances of Kit Harrington’s character will provide additional information. It is without a doubt one of the most dangerous objects seen in the MCU. It’s conceivable that the person and the item will show up in Blade or another upcoming Eternals project.
Kamala’s Bangles
The Ms. Marvel series on Disney+ is where Kamala’s bangles first surface, and they are crucial to her power-unlocking. The debut of this historical artefact in the series reveals a lot about its origins and abilities despite being a significant departure from the comic-book version of Ms. Marvel. The bangles are needed to channel Ms. Marvel’s MCU abilities and use photonic energy. She can enlarge herself thanks to it, stretch out her limbs, and produce “hard light.” The bangles also grant her entrance to the Clandestines’ home dimension, Noor, an other reality.
This artefact plays a crucial role in her story because it discloses her family’s past and the origins of their special abilities while also enabling her mutant abilities. Her bangles have no comic book references, thus the only place to learn more about them is in the Ms. Marvel series on Disney+. It’s obvious that the bangles contain some kind of cosmic energy. The bangles illuminate in the series’ last episode’s end-credit scene before Captain Marvel and Kamala Kahn trade places, allowing them to transfer one of the universe’s most powerful heroes against their will.
The Bloodstone
The Bloodstone in Werewolf by Night is the most recent prehistoric artefact to appear in Phase 4. With its dark crimson colour and light emanating from it, the Bloodstone resembles the Reality Stone in appearance. Although it has been in the Bloodstone family for many generations, the special makes no mention of its origins.
When discussing the Bloodstone’s abilities, it seems as though magic plays a larger role because Verussa casts a spell when she changes Jack into his monster form. The special also claims that the Bloodstone boosts the user’s power and defence, as well as his or her capacity to live longer. Monsters must avoid coming into contact with the antiquated artefact in order for it to not enrage and weaken them, making Werewolf by Night’s Bloodstone harmful for them as well. Even if it doesn’t appear to be as deadly as any of the Infinity Stones, the MCU’s Phase 4 showed that it is still an extremely potent weapon. These artefacts’ magic and sorcery-based abilities suggest that they will have a significant influence on the MCU’s future.
