Pedro Pascal and Ethan Hawke are gay lovers in first trailer for new cowboy film by HollywoodNuts
Pedro Pascal unexpectedly appears as Ethan Hawke’s gay lover just when you thought he had given you everything he had to offer.
The two A-list actors are slated to star in Pedro Almodóvar’s Western short Strange Way of Life, and it looks like it might break the internet. Here is the teaser:
If Brokeback Mountain has taught us anything, it is that gay cowboys are a huge hit with audiences, and Pedro Almodóvar is ready to deliver.
The short film, which will run for roughly 30 minutes, follows Silva (Pedro Pascal), who goes through the desert to visit Sheriff Jake (Ethan Hawke), an old acquaintance he hasn’t seen in 25 years.
Silva quickly comes to the realization that this journey is far more involved than just a friendly visit.
Hawke and Pascal exhibit a variety of sexual tension in the trailer, including one *very* sensual neck kiss.
Another scenario features a heartbroken Pascal screaming at Hawke, “You never loved me, you’ve never loved anyone in your life,” causing Hawke to draw his gun and shoot Pascal.
We SHALL be looking. Thanks to Warner Bros.
Wow, that was intense!
Almodóvar teased the plot of the movie on Dua Lipa’s podcast At Your Service, saying:
“This is a strange western in that there are two men who love each other and act in opposition to one another in that circumstance.
“I can tell you that the movie contains a lot of Western-style aspects. The gunslinger is present. The ranch is there. The sheriff is present.
But what it has that most Westerns don’t is the kind of conversation between two men that I don’t believe has ever been depicted in a Western movie. And now I worry that I’ve told you too much.
People naturally went completely crazy as soon as the trailer dropped and are now scrambling to figure out how to purchase tickets.
Look at that chemistry, please! Thanks to Warner Bros.
One Twitter user remarked, “Good luck getting me to shut up about this.”
“OMG, this is going to be amazing. Another exclaimed, “I adore it already.
I literally shouted because this has everything. A third enthusiastic viewer exclaimed, “The colors, the actors- IT’S GAY!?”
A fourth simply stated: “Real cinema [is] back I could cry actually.”
Good luck maintaining your composure until the Cannes Film Festival, where Strange Way of Life will have its world premiere this year.
