Married With Children (1987 vs 2023) All Cast: Then and Now ★ 2023 by HollywoodNuts
American comedy series Married… with Children was developed by Michael G. Moye and Ron Leavitt for Fox.[1] It was initially shown from April 5, 1987, to June 9, 1997, making it Fox’s longest-running live-action sitcom. The first program to air on Fox’s then-new fourth network’s primetime slot was Married… with Children. In addition to the show’s first run, one episode that was not broadcast was broadcast on FX on June 18, 2002, five years after the series’ termination.
The program centers on the lives of Al Bundy, a former star high school football player who now works as a hard-luck women’s shoe salesman in Chicago, along with his sluggish wife Peggy, their attractive but dim-witted daughter Kelly, and their smart-aleck son Bud. The stuffy Steve and Marcy Rhoades, who live next door, are also prominently featured in the show. Al finds both of them to be somewhat annoying, though the Rhoades feel the same way. Later, Marcy’s second husband Jefferson D’Arcy, a white-collar criminal who becomes her “trophy husband” and Al’s sidekick, appears.
One of the longest-running sitcoms in television history, the series lasted for eleven seasons and 259 episodes. Frank Sinatra’s rendition of “Love and Marriage”[2] from the 1955 television play Our Town serves as the song’s theme. It was written by Sammy Cahn and Jimmy Van Heusen.
The ABC Television Center in Hollywood served as the location for the series’ first two seasons of filming. The third through eighth seasons were filmed at Sunset Gower Studios in Hollywood, and the final three seasons at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City. The first season of the show and a portion of the second were produced by Embassy Communications; the other seasons were produced by ELP Communications under the Columbia Pictures Television banner.
The program came in at number 94 on Entertainment Weekly’s selection of the top 100 “New TV Classics” in 2008.
It was revealed in May 2022 that there would be an animated reboot of the show.
