Video: Sweet Dog Tries To Hold Hands Through The Bars Of Her Shelter Kennel by HollywoodNuts
“This adorable dog is begging for attention.”
Even though it can be challenging to spend weeks in an animal shelter, 1-year-old Maxine isn’t giving up.
The lovely shepherd-mix who has been at the San Bernardino City Animal Shelter (SBCAS) for more than two months has discovered a new method to interact with people who pass by her crate by putting her paw through an opening and laying it in their hands.
The animal sanctuary posted on Facebook, “This beautiful dog is desperate for affection.”
Due to problems with their other resident dog, Maxine’s family gave her to the shelter.
Melissa, the volunteer coordinator for SBCAS, told The Dodo that while she got along well with everyone in the house, the other dog did not.
As a result, Maxine’s family sent her to SBCAS in an effort to match her with the ideal family.
Maxine is still searching for her happy family, but adoptions have been slower than usual and the shelter is at capacity.
Maxine always gets so delighted when someone comes to see her in her kennel, no matter what the situation.
In one video posted by SBCAS to Facebook, Maxine can be seen enjoying a visitor’s cuddles through the crate’s bars. Maxine approaches her new companion as closely as she can despite the fact that her new acquaintance can only reach a few fingers into the cage.
Maxine wags her tail vigorously, rolls onto her back in the ideal belly-rub position, and kisses her friend’s hand.
The staff at the shelter enjoys spending time with Maxine, but they are desperate to find her a cozy home and a loving family.
The facility is currently at capacity, so adoptions are free, Melissa said. “We’re hoping that this will help her find her people.”
Maxine’s friends at the shelter think that she would thrive as the sole pet in her home because of her prior familiarity with animals. And when she does locate her forever family, SBCAS will take all reasonable measures to facilitate the transition, including providing a free spay operation.
While Maxine waits for her happily ever after, her caregivers at the shelter will keep holding her paws and keeping her company.
