Ruben Loftus-Cheek Set to Join AC Milan in Exciting Transfer Agreement
Ruben Loftus-Cheek Agrees to AC Milan Move as Chelsea Negotiates Price
In an exciting development, reports indicate that Ruben Loftus-Cheek has reached an agreement to join the renowned Italian team, AC Milan.
Loftus-Cheek, a midfielder for Chelsea, is expected to be among the first players to depart under new manager Mauricio Pochettino as the club looks to streamline its crowded roster.
Prior to Pochettino’s arrival, Loftus-Cheek was rumored to be one of several stars who would be on the move this summer. La Gazzetta dello Sport reveals that the English player has given permission to Milan to sign him.
With just one year left on his contract, Chelsea is currently negotiating the player’s price, holding out for a fee of around £21 million to facilitate his departure. Loftus-Cheek is believed to be a vital acquisition for AC Milan in the midfield, especially with regular player Ismael Bennacer sidelined by a long-term knee injury that is expected to keep him out until the end of the year.
Reports suggest that Loftus-Cheek’s representatives are engaged in discussions with both AC Milan and Chelsea regarding the player’s future. The midfielder, who has earned ten caps for England, is seen as a valuable addition to Milan’s squad.
While Chelsea remains firm on their desired transfer fee, AC Milan’s initial offer is reportedly far below their valuation, standing at £13 million. The Italian club may be willing to increase their offer to approximately £17.2 million but is reluctant to pay a substantial sum for a player who will become a free agent next summer.
After Chelsea’s final match of the season, a 1-1 draw with Newcastle at Stamford Bridge, Loftus-Cheek seemingly bid farewell to the crowd by raising his arms, suggesting that his time with the club may be coming to an end.
Loftus-Cheek wouldn’t be the first Chelsea star to make the switch to San Siro, as his former teammate Fikayo Tomori made the move from blue to red and black in 2021. Despite loan spells at London rivals Fulham and Crystal Palace, Loftus-Cheek has spent his entire career at Stamford Bridge, featuring in over 100 Premier League games.
In addition to Loftus-Cheek, as many as 14 other players could potentially depart Chelsea, including Mason Mount, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Conor Gallagher, N’Golo Kante, Kalidou Koulibaly, Cesar Azpilicueta, and Mateo Kovacic.
Pochettino’s squad has swelled to over 30 players since Todd Boehly invested nearly £600 million in new signings over two transfer windows. The club hopes to generate around £280 million from player sales as they aim to reshape the team.
